Climate Change and Land : An IPCC special report

 

A new IPCC special report has been released on climate change, desertification, land degradation, sustainable land management, food security, and greenhouse gas fluxes in terrestrial ecosystems. The report points out that land is already under growing human pressure and climate change. The report focuses on how we are using the land and the implications for climate change, land degradation and food production. Land use is central to discussions on climate change mitigation and adaptation, food security and sustainability. The report states “that land must remain productive to maintain food security and the population increases and the negative effects of climate change on vegetation increase”
