Full-time tenure track Assistant Professor position at Temple University, PA
Temple University, Philadelphia PA. Temple University’s Department of Geography and Urban Studies (GUS) invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor beginning in academic year 2011-12. A Ph.D. in Geography, City and Regional Planning, Natural Resources, Urban Studies or a related field is required by the start of employment. We are looking for individuals who will excel at conducting research and providing graduate and undergraduate instruction in an interdisciplinary department. GUS (http://www.temple.edu/gus) offers two interdisciplinary undergraduate majors in Geography and Urban Studies and Environmental Studies with nearly 250 majors. GUS also offers two graduate programs - an MA in Geography and Urban Studies and a Ph.D. in Urban Studies - consisting of 30 students. The successful candidate will have a strong methodological focus that may include: spatial analysis/statistics and GIS, cartography/geovisualization, qualitative or mixed methods expertise or other approaches connected with major departmental thematic areas of research in sustainability, social justice, or globalization. Specific research themes may include: human dimensions of environmental change, environmental management, health geography, immigration/population studies, mobility studies, or other topics that demonstrate a high potential for funded research.
