Join the inaugural Discussion Platform: Science for Recovery & Sustainability!

We invite you to join the inaugural event of the Discussion Platform: Science for Recovery and Sustainability, an international collaboration bringing together researchers and students to explore the role of remote sensing in land cover and land use monitoring.
Dr. Garik Gutman, Program Manager of NASA’s Land-Cover and Land-Use Change (LCLUC) Program, will deliver a talk on:
"Overview of Multispectral Satellite Missions for Monitoring Land Cover and Land Use"
Friday, Jan. 31, 2025
9:00 AM EST | 4:00 PM GMT+2
This new platform, led by the University of Maryland, the NTUU “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute,” and Ukraine's Space Research Institute NASU, is supported by NASA and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The initiative aims to address pressing global challenges, including post-war recovery, resource management, climate adaptation, and sustainable development.
Dr. Gutman’s talk will cover urbanization, forests, agriculture, and future NASA Earth remote sensing satellite missions. This event is particularly valuable for researchers seeking to utilize NASA’s data and tools for land cover research, as well as students and young professionals interested in space technology applications.
Key partners include NASA Harvest and the Ukrainian Scientific IT Society.
